Part 2: Selecting the Perfect Neighbourhood / 5 Edmonton Neighbourhoods With a Lot to Offer
When you purchase a home, you’re not just buying a house, you’re buying into a neighborhood. Think about whether that neighborhood will suit you. Sure, you might love the house itself, but will the loud bar next door or the school across the street become too bothersome for you?
Do you like the feel of the neighborhood and does it offer everything you need? It’s best to find a place in a community that you’ll enjoy. Some of Edmonton’s newest neighbourhoods have a lot to offer:
- **Aspen Trails** includes a 50-acre Urban Village with future retail conveniences and a variety of housing including long term care facility, duplex bungalows, and high-rise homes. With links to the Heritage Trail System, Aspen Trails will be a walkable community with trails connecting to parks and playgrounds throughout.
- **Aurora** is in Southeast Edmonton on 66th street just south of Ellerslie Road. It’s nicely positioned about 5 minutes from Anthony Henday road, making it easy to travel anywhere in Edmonton. Aurora is also 5 minutes east of Calgary Trail for heading south to Calgary, Banff or the airport, and 5 minutes from Gateway Blvd for heading north into downtown Edmonton.
- **Laurel Green** is a 670-acre community perfectly situated in Southeast Edmonton, close to excellent shopping services, schools, and recreational facilities. A premier family neighbourhood that promotes healthy lifestyles through excellent recreational amenities including a community lake, walking path system, playgrounds, and parks.
- **Rosenthal** is in West Edmonton on 215th street just west of Anthony Henday Drive and just minutes from Whitemud Drive which connects to the rest of Edmonton. Close to shopping, golf courses, and walking trails, Rosenthal has something for everyone.
When Sarah (whom you met in Part 1: Know What You Want in a Home) was looking for a new Edmonton home, she considered more than 10 neighbourhoods. Her multi-level townhouse is dog-friendly. Her home sits on a tree-lined, safe street in a lush green space that shields the noise of traffic. “I knew this was the place for me right away,” Sarah said. “Even better, the price was right.”
