Community Profiles

Welcome Home To The Community Of Aurora!

With the rapid growth occurring in south Edmonton, it’s clear that it is the place to be. With a plethora of amenities and activities in the area, living in southeast Edmonton’s Aurora community is a great option for couples, new families, and families with older kids.

Here are five reasons why you should choose Aurora as the location to build your new home:

  1. Reach for the stars

Aurora features an astronomy theme, which is evident in their astro-themed playground. The reason for the theme is that Aurora is a prime location for star gazing, which is rare within the boundaries of Edmonton. It is located in southeast Edmonton, far enough away from the bright lights of downtown and with low light emission streetlights. When you look up in the sky at night you can actually see the stars and constellations. Pretty neat!

  1. Location, location, location!

Your visitors will have no problems accessing your new neighbourhood at Aurora, because it is conveniently located in the centre of many major routes. It is in close proximity to the Anthony Henday and Highway 2, so out of town guests will find it convenient. Not to mention, your commute will be super easy!

  1. Convenient shopping

South Edmonton’s Aurora community has access to some of the best shopping in Edmonton. Let’s start by proximity: South Edmonton Common’s massive outdoor shopping complex is an 11-minute drive away. It has everything you could ask for, from extensive retails shops like GAP, Sportchek, and H&M, to high-end fashion such as Saks Off Fifth, to home stores like Home Depot, Bouclair, and IKEA.

Perhaps even more exciting is the brand new Premium Outlet Collection mega mall that just opened at the Edmonton International Airport! Getting there from Aurora is a breezy 20-minute drive down the highway, and is a great way to spend your weekend. The new outlet mall in Edmonton offers anchor stores like Nike Factory Store, Forever 21, and an Old Navy Outlet store. It’s worth checking out!

  1. Brand new K-8 schools

Living in southeast Edmonton means you’ll have access to some of the best brand new schools in the district. If you belong to the Edmonton Public School district, the Shauna May Seneca school just opened in 2018, and offers programs for kindergarten to grade 8. Edmonton Catholic Schools has Corpus Christi, which is also a K-9 school.

  1. The city’s best food spots

Aurora is close to two of the best restaurants in the Edmonton area. The menu at Workshop Eatery is handcrafted and seasonal, and in the summer they grow their own vegetables right in front of the restaurant. Expect expert simplicity here; their motto is that they would rather do few things and do them well. Their weekend brunch is a must-try.

If you’re up for a short 11-minute drive to Beaumont, you must experience Chartier. They are one of the best restaurants in the Edmonton area, and they are best known for their incredible award-winning French-Canadian cuisine and impeccable service. During warm days, they have a bread window that is open to the street, where you can buy their soft and fresh homemade baking. If you live in Aurora in Edmonton, you can make this 5 star dining experience a regular occurrence.
